Farm Summer Camp is all about learning through experiences! Each week covers a different theme/topic for grades K-5th. Each week includes guest speakers such as Missouri Department of Conservation, dairy farmer, bee expert, rodeo trainer etc. and is hosted by our school teachers who align curriculum to set each student up for the next school year in a fun farm environment for ages 5+. Each week is differently themed and are described in more detail below.
🌿 Week 1: Wildlife on the Farm & Conservation
Campers will explore the fascinating wildlife that shares space with farms — from birds to beneficial insects and woodland creatures — while learning how farmers protect natural habitats. Through hands-on activities and observation, students will discover how conservation and agriculture work together to care for the land.
🌱 Week 2: Garden Chemistry — Microecosystems & Plants
Young scientists will dig into the hidden world beneath their feet as they explore soil chemistry, composting, and the tiny ecosystems that help plants grow. Campers will conduct simple chemistry experiments, plant seeds, and learn how sunlight, water, and nutrients work together to create thriving gardens.
🐄 Week 3: Barnyard Adventures — Farm Animals across America
Students will meet the amazing animals found on farms across America, learning how climate, geography, and culture shape livestock breeds and farming practices. Through interactive lessons and animal care experiences, campers will discover how farmers responsibly raise animals for food, cloth fiber, and other products.
🥕 Week 4: Growing Farm to Table — From Garden to Kitchen
This week focuses on how food gets from the farm to our tables. Kids will learn about food production, harvesting, and even try cooking simple meals with ingredients they helped harvest.
🚜 Week 5: Farm Tools & Technology — Tractors, Tools & Engineering
From simple machines to modern tractors, campers will explore how engineering powers the farm and makes hard work possible. Through building challenges and hands-on demonstrations, students will discover how problem-solving and technology help farmers feed America as the most efficient food producers in the world.
🤠 Week 6: Rodeos & Ranch Life — Horses, Cows & Cowboys
Campers will step into ranch life as they learn about cattle, horses, and the skills used in rodeos and working farms. Through safe, interactive activities, students will explore animal care, western heritage, and the science behind ranching traditions.
