Sheep farm with organically grown pears, apples, cherries, peaches, dates, and berries. We raise purebred commercial and registered Katahdin lambs for registered breeding, sheep farmers, and meat. We also have organic apple trees, pear trees, and a few grape vines. We sell all our fruit or you can order homemade preserves, jams, or jellies.
Farm Summer Camp is all about learning through experiences! Each week covers a different theme/topic for grades K-5th. Each week includes guest speakers such as Missouri Department of Conservation, dairy farmer, bee expert, rodeo trainer etc. and is hosted by our school teachers who align curriculum to set each student up for the next school year in a fun farm environment for ages 5+. Each week is differently themed and are described in more detail below.
Week 1 - Life Cycle Explorations - Farm conservation and Ecosystems
Explore the wondrous cycles of creatures both big and small. Learn about the environments and habitats they need to live and grow and how the farm both supports and interacts with the local ecosystem and wildlife.
Week 2 - Nature & Wildlife Wonders - Plants, bugs and the importance of nature
Kids will learn about gardening, from planting seeds to understanding how crops grow. Activities include planting vegetables, watering, and learning the basics of sustainable farming. A local bee expert will visit and present hands on activities to teach the importance of bugs and insects.
Week 3 - Barnyard Adventures - Explore the world of farm animals
Children will learn about the animals’ needs, their roles on the farm, and participate in hands-on activities like feeding and grooming. The future farmers will also have a chance to be creative and build birdhouses/bird feeders and other farm themed art.
Week 4 - Growing Farm-to-Table - Agriculture
This week focuses on how food gets from the farm to our tables. Kids will learn about food production, harvesting, and even try cooking simple meals with ingredients they helped harvest.
Week 5 - Farm Tools and Technology - Tractors, Implements, Weather Technology
The future farmers will learn about farm equipment and the technology that helps run a modern farm. Activities will include learning how to operate basic tools, understanding irrigation systems, and using farm machinery in a safe, educational ways.
Week 6 - The Western Way - Cowboys, rodeo, frontier lifestyle
Learn about the Wild West and what skills it took to be a cowboy. Old fashioned fun, farm themed games and rodeo style races like egg-and-spoon races, hay bale stacking, and lassoing fake cows, give kids a chance to compete in a friendly way.
You can pick which weeks to attend up to all 6 weeks currently available at this time. Once registration/deposit is sent, you will receive emailed forms where you can confirm which weeks for attendance. Registration cost is applied towards first week selected per student. You would be paying first week in advance at time of registration. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
